Who can participate?

Any eligible SJCHS student who is willing to audition, attend all scheduled rehearsals, and participate in both Region and State (if their piece(s) qualify).

How do I join the team?

Students who wish to participate in Region and, with hard work, State, must submit either an audition reel (for actors) or a design concept and rendering (designers/tech).

What if I just want to be on crew?

First of all, there’s no such thing as “just crew!” Crew members are crucial members of our theatre events. Those who wish to participate in Region and State as crew members must be able to attend rehearsals, attend BOTH Region and State, be eligible, be willing to put in at least 2 hours in the scene shop, costume shop, or woodshop on a weekly basis.

How much will participation cost?

Students will be responsible for 50% of the hotel fee, which usually runs about $100 each, food/meals while on the trip (approximately $100) a Team Sweatshirt (approximately $40) and a $190 Theatre Activity Fee (if they have not already been assessed this fee due to earlier theatre event participation). Hotel and Activity fees will be assessed on student school accounts. Food expenses will be covered by individuals with their own cash/credit card.

How will we travel to Region and State events?

Region: Individual cars

State: School Bus

What types of performances can I participate in?

There are 7 total categories: One Act Play, Musical Theatre, Classical Scene, Contemporary Scene, Pantomime, Dramatic Monologue, Humorous Monologue. The One Act Play has already been cast, but each of the other categories has 4 openings. You may indicate your preference, but first priority will be given to seniors since this is their last year. Second priority will be given to students who have participated heavily in theatre events all year. You will have the option to indicate whether or not you are willing to do any type of performance, or if you are only interested in participating if you can do the type of performance you want. The director will choose pieces, distribute scripts and help you prepare your piece.

Audition Details

Each student should submit an audition form AND whatever their events require (monologues, musical selections, pantomimes, director’s concept, etc…) by February 10, 2023 @ 11:59PM.
